Nothing like boobs to brighten up your Monday

This is how boobs look in middle eastern magazines, everything even resembling sexy fun is smudged out by black marker. I’ve heard that this job is done by prisoners but I can’t confirm how true this is. Anyway great idea by wonderbra, use more marker! I really, really like it.

She be right!

It struck me when I saw these VW ads this morning on ibelieveinadvertising that I can’t recall posting an advert from Australia before, I really like these. They take the thought to the exaggerated through artificial adverts which I find really fun.In fact we done something similar for our own portfolio, selling smoking dolls to highlight the giveupsmoking.ie campaign for HSE. I also really like the art direction, playful and clean. I’m assuming they ran as either double page spreads or perhaps a teaser advert with a reveal. Either way it’s a really nice idea.

Another advert I wish I’d thought of

I’ll hold my hands up I’ve been in a bit of a dark mood the past few days but when I saw this advert it cheered me up momentarily, it’s really good. Very clever and quite sweetly art directed/illustrated. A little while later the ad put me back in the funk as I started to wish I had come up with it myself! Another point to note is that I think this may be the first advert I have seen on blogs that has come from the Philippines. Good job.

Music to make you Phat

I like my beats PHAT and my cheese fatty, not the other way around! Kind of grotesque imagery here, though I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in  a harp sized cheese wheel! MMMMMMMMMMMMM cheese!

You’ve got chocolate on your nose!

A very simple advert we recently worked on for Hershey’s here in Dubai. Plays up the product name and the location we find it in. Hope you like it.

The real question is how long is the dole queue???

Spotted this advert on ibelieveinadvertising this morning and left me thinking…. NOTHING! Nothing at all, who cares how long a line of desks is? How long is a piece of string? The impact of such a huge number of school leavers hasn’t been explored at all, the impact on society as it stands now and in the future, the impact on the work force, the impact on unemployment and social welfare? All ignored in favour of a line of desks, well fair enough but you will have to excuse me for not caring too much.

I’ve seen the future, and it’s cat shaped.

I’m in the wrong business all together, the only 360 advertising in the future will involve cats chasing their tails.

It’s been a long time coming but I think this one has been worth waiting for

OK so it has been ages since I posted anything, apologies. Have been extremely busy working, socialising and moving apartment (not neccessarily in that order). Anyway I saw this advert this morning and I remembered how much I enjoy sharing work like this. Very funny visual and well art directed, I’m surprised the concept was ever approved by such an institution as the Boyscouts of America but there you go. Great work from Ogilvy in Atlanta. Anyway take a look and see what you think for yourself, there are three other executions to the campaign but this one is definitely my favourite.

Just because I’m in Dubai. ME LOL

The ME stands for middle east obviously, alas lol means the same thing here. Anyway found this online and thought it was kind of funny. Not an advert but kind of funny none the less, kind of.

Homosexuals posing on the streets of Dublin

Have seen this billboard from Dublin (Ah dublin…. I digress) and I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand the creative is awful, but it was no doubt done on a budget, that said the message is clear if lacking a little in impact. On the other hand it is so nice to see above the line media used for such a cause instead of just the usual gay press, pamphlets and flyers and of course protest, all of which can be very effective of course. I really like the notion of using mainstream media as a means of communicating gay rights. I wonder if it could have had more impact rather than the chosen image which could have been stock imagery for all I know, could the guys have been kissing? Anyway I’m being critical now, this is less a comment on the creative decisions of the organisation responsible and more a nod of the head in agreement and thanks.
